GENERAL QUESTIONS
Q: What is GridGenius?
A: GridGenius is an Instagram grid planning app that helps you visualize and
perfect your feed before posting. It includes AI aesthetic analysis, theme
filters, and scheduling tools to help you create a cohesive Instagram presence.
Q: Do I need an Instagram account to use GridGenius?
A: No. GridGenius works independently of Instagram. You do not need to connect
any social media accounts. The app helps you plan your content, but posting to
Instagram is done separately through the Instagram app.
Q: Does GridGenius post to Instagram for me?
A: No. GridGenius is a planning tool. When you are ready to post, you will need
to manually share your content through the Instagram app. The scheduling feature
sends you reminders when it is time to post, but does not automatically publish.
Q: Is there a free trial or is the app free?
A: GridGenius is completely free with all features unlocked. There are no
subscriptions, in-app purchases, or premium tiers. Every feature is available
to every user.
FEATURES
Q: How does the AI aesthetic analyzer work?
A: The analyzer examines your grid using professional design principles. It
evaluates color harmony, consistency, brightness balance, and composition. You
receive a grade and detailed percentage scores for each category, along with
specific suggestions for improvement.
Q: What are theme filters?
A: Theme filters are professionally designed presets that apply consistent color
adjustments to your photos. The six themes (Moody Dark, Summer Bright, Vintage
Grain, Minimalist Clean, Retro Film, Natural Earth) help create visual unity
across your grid.
Q: Can I apply different filters to different posts?
A: Theme filters apply to your entire grid for consistency. However, you can
switch between themes at any time to see which best suits your content. The
filters are non-destructive and do not modify your original photos.
Q: What is Ghost Mode?
A: Ghost Mode allows you to temporarily hide certain posts to preview how new
content would look in their place. This helps you plan future posts that
complement your existing feed. Ghosted posts appear dimmed with an icon overlay.
Q: How do post reminders work?
A: When you schedule a post, GridGenius sets a local notification on your
device. At the scheduled time, you receive a reminder notification with the
post details. This helps you remember to share content at optimal times.
PRIVACY AND DATA
Q: Where are my photos stored?
A: All photos and data are stored locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded
to external servers or cloud storage. Your content stays completely private.
Q: Do you collect any data about me?
A: No. GridGenius does not collect, store, or transmit any user data. No
analytics, no tracking, no data collection of any kind. Your privacy is
completely protected.
Q: Can other people see my planned posts?
A: No. Everything in GridGenius is private to your device. No one else can see
your planned content unless they physically access your device.
Q: What happens to my data if I delete the app?
A: All data is permanently deleted when you remove the app from your device.
There are no backups on external servers since nothing is ever uploaded.
TECHNICAL
Q: Can I use GridGenius on iPad?
A: GridGenius is designed for iPhone but will run on iPad in compatibility
mode. The interface is optimized for iPhone screen sizes.
Q: Does GridGenius work offline?
A: Yes. GridGenius works completely offline since all features operate locally
on your device. No internet connection is required at any time.
Q: How many posts can I plan?
A: The main interface shows a 3x3 grid (nine posts) which represents the first
three rows of your Instagram feed. This is the most visible part of your
profile and the focus of aesthetic planning.
Q: Can I save multiple grid layouts?
A: Currently, GridGenius maintains one active grid. You can modify it at any
time by adding, removing, or rearranging posts. Future updates may include
multiple saved layouts.
Q: What photo formats are supported?
A: GridGenius supports all standard iOS image formats including JPEG, PNG, and
HEIC. Photos from your library maintain their original quality.
USAGE
Q: How do I reorder posts?
A: Tap and hold any post, then drag it to a new position. Other posts will
shift automatically. Release to drop the post in its new location. This drag
and drop interface makes rearranging quick and intuitive.
Q: Can I edit photos in the app?
A: GridGenius applies theme filters but does not include general photo editing
tools. For detailed editing, use your preferred photo editor before adding
images to GridGenius.
Q: How do I add captions and hashtags?
A: Tap any post to open its detail view. You will find text fields for captions
and hashtags. These are saved with the post for reference when you are ready to
share to Instagram.
Q: What do the status badges mean?
A: Posts can be marked as Draft (orange), Scheduled (blue), Published (green),
or Archived (gray). These help you track which content is ready, which is
planned, and which has already been shared.
Q: Can I change a post's image after adding it?
A: Yes. Open the post detail view and tap the Change Image button. You can
select a different photo from your library at any time.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Q: The AI score seems low. Why?
A: The AI uses professional design standards which can be strict. Common issues
include inconsistent colors between posts, imbalanced brightness levels, or
clashing color schemes. Check the suggestions screen for specific feedback.
Q: Theme filters are not changing my images.
A: Make sure posts have images added. Empty slots are not affected by filters.
Also verify a theme other than None is selected. The theme applies to all posts
with images.
Q: Notifications are not appearing.
A: Check that you have granted notification permissions in iOS Settings under
GridGenius. Also verify the scheduled time has not already passed. Notifications
fire once at the scheduled time.
Q: The app crashed or froze.
A: Try force-closing the app and reopening it. If problems persist, restart
your device. Your data is saved automatically and will not be lost.
Q: How do I reset everything?
A: Go to Settings and tap Clear All Posts. This removes all content and resets
the grid. Your app preferences and theme selection are preserved.
FEEDBACK AND SUPPORT
Q: How do I report a bug?
A: Contact us at support@gridgenius-app.com with a description of the issue,
what you were doing when it occurred, and your device model and iOS version.
Q: Can I suggest new features?
A: Absolutely. We welcome feature suggestions at support@gridgenius-app.com.
While we cannot implement every request, user feedback directly influences our
development priorities.
Q: How often is the app updated?
A: We release updates regularly to fix bugs, improve performance, and add new
features based on user feedback. Updates are free and automatic if you have
app updates enabled.
Q: Is there a user community?
A: Currently, GridGenius does not have an official community forum. Support is
provided via email. We may establish community channels based on user interest.
INSTAGRAM INTEGRATION
Q: Why does GridGenius not connect to Instagram?
A: This is by design. Instagram's policies are complex and change frequently.
By operating independently, GridGenius avoids permission issues, API
limitations, and platform dependencies. This also protects your privacy.
Q: Can I import my existing Instagram posts?
A: GridGenius does not connect to Instagram, so automatic import is not
available. You can manually add photos from your device's camera roll,
including any you have previously posted to Instagram.
Q: How do I post my planned content to Instagram?
A: When ready to post, save the image from GridGenius to your camera roll, open
Instagram, create a new post, select the image, add your caption and hashtags
(which you can copy from GridGenius), and publish.
Q: Does Instagram know I am using GridGenius?
A: No. Instagram has no way to detect that you used a planning app. From
Instagram's perspective, you are simply posting photos from your camera roll.
