"This artist field book is a reflection upon recent experiences and fond family memories growing up in a beautiful part of Yuin Country, within south coastal New South Wales. I have been particularly inspired by the migratory whale species that visit my hometown on their annual migration route. These majestic mammals are still vulnerable, and their numbers have decreased dramatically as a result of whaling. I hope to create awareness of the decline in whale numbers even though whaling is no longer practiced...
My artwork will highlight 5 whale species that are currently threatened or endangered and inhabit Australia's waters: the Humpback, Sei, Fin, Blue and the Southern Right whale. I have created an artist book featuring whales and associated wildlife such as fish, sea birds, dolphins and seals. Included in the book are pockets with objects collected on my walks, as well as maps, prints, photographs and drawings made whilst in the field."⠀
Sharing Stories is an exhibition celebrating, exploring and acknowledging ongoing creative engagement with First Nations perspectives in and around the Bundian Way - an ancient cultural and more recent, shared history pathway in southeast Australia, from Targangal (Mount Kosciuszko) to Bilgalara (Fisheries Beach, Eden). ⠀
