I have taken inspiration for this series from the Australian bush where I spend a lot of my time either walking or birdwatching. The leaves and other plant matter I have collected from Canberra and the birds I have chosen to illustrate are commonly seen in my hometown on the South Coast of New South Wales. The beautifully blue Superb Fairy-wren, the elegant Rose Robin, the timid Yellow Thornbill, the dashing Eastern Spinebill, the bold New Holland Honeyeater and the smallest of Australia’s birds the Weebill.
I have combined my two worlds Canberra, where I now live and study and my hometown Moruya which I still frequently visit.
All works are Acrylic paint, coloured pencil, and collage on multimedia paper. 38 x 35cm framed (28 x 25cm unframed).
