INAUGURAL SCHOOLS’ MARCH PAST COMPETITION TO BE STAGED AT THE 2024 REPUBLIC BANK INTERCOL CHAMPIONSHIPS
St. George, Grenada, February 29, 2024: Classique Lighting Caribbean has partnered with D’s Sports Shop; D’s Sports Shop; Blue Bubbles PA Rental and Events Supplies Co.; and Tropical Catering to stage the 1st ever Intercol March Past Competition, in collaboration with the Grenada Secondary Schools’ Games Association.
This competition will form part of the 2024 Republic Bank Intercol Championship and will be held on days one (1) and two (2) – Tuesday March 12th and Wednesday March 13th – of the championship.
On day one (1) will see the staging of the boys’ march past competition and day two (2) will see the staging of the Girls’. Each participating school is expected to have a team of twenty – five (25) students and they will march to the drums of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) Orchestra.
The main objectives of the competition are:
ü To generate more interest in students and patrons in attending days one (1) and two (2) of the Intercol games which are usually poorly attended;
ü To encourage the competitiveness and creativity among the schools:
ü To give students, who are not athletically inclined, an opportunity to participate in some aspect of the Intercol Games; and
ü To give schools, that may not have a strong athletic team, particularly the smaller schools, the opportunity to win a prize at the games.
Participating schools will be eligible to win:
ü Monetary prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions
ü Trophies for the 4th and 5th positions
ü A Sponsors’ Choice Award
A Challenge Trophy will also be awarded to the winning schools
All are encouraged to come out and support their schools in this new aspect of the Intercol Games.

This weekend's programme features an interview with Grenada Secondary Schools Games Association (GSSGA) officials discussing the highly anticipated Inter-Secondary Schools Athletic Championships, also known as the Intercol Games.
Key figures will join us, including the chairperson, Mrs Dianne Abel-Jeffrey; vice-chairman, Mr Carl Andall; and executive member, Mrs Samantha Antoine-Purcell.
They will discuss the specifics of this year's championships, including the logistical arrangements to ensure the smooth participation of all secondary schools during the three-day event scheduled for the Kirani James Athletic Stadium.
