WINTER ROSE

Even though winter can provide a certain beauty in its blues and grays and browns, sometimes the soul just needs some color. Where to find it? It can be as easy as standing in the floral section of the grocery store. With Valentines Day still a month away, my wife and I picked up a bouquet of beautiful flowers one weekend and it quickly became the subject for my next watercolor painting.

WINTER STUDY SERIES

Most of these paintings are created from memories of past snow events here where I live. A good snowfall in this part of Tennessee is a rare thing. So, when it happens it is special. Snow scenes are often what we think of, or even hope for, in winter. Some paintings are created in watercolor with a few pastel chalk highlights and are framed. Other work is created with oil or acrylic paint on board or canvas which may or may not be framed.
