ABOUT GREG HAYNES

I am an artist and illustrator working from Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA.

I have been making pictures since I could hold a crayon. As a child, I was taken in by the amazing illustrations within childrens picture books. As a young adult, I loved the record album covers and posters of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Since college (1980-1984), I have been influenced by many art styles and movements, including the illustration and design work of Milton Glaser, Michael Schwab, Barry Moser, Maxfield Parrish, and David Lance Goines, to name just a few.

I am inspired by music, books, travel, the outdoors, and, of course, other art. Actually, I can be inspired by pretty much anything. Living near the Appalachian Mountains and surrounded by beautiful Tennessee scenery, I draw inspiration from the natural environment as well as our own garden. I use a variety of materials to create landscape, botanical, and sometimes abstract art.
