What began in December 2019 as a casual hobby, inspired by Greta Thunberg, soon evolved into a personal mission. In its earliest days, Deetya started by teaching her nephews, nieces, and neighbourhood children about global warming and sustainability through playful, interactive sessions, and stopped the cutting of trees. Understanding that many Indian adults dislike being directly told what to do, she adopted a subtler approach—offering seeds as gifts to neighbours, encouraging them to grow plants without the weight of a lecture. At times, she would scatter seeds in barren patches of land, quietly bringing life to overlooked spaces.
By 2023, Deetya’s passion for environmental conservation led her to meet a like-minded individual, Samriddha Dutta. Together, they founded GreenThreshold Foundation, a platform dedicated to combating climate change through education, action, and community engagement.
