On March 15th, 1781, Nathaneal Greene led 4,500 Carolinians and Minutemen from across the colonies, just a few miles away at what is now Guilford Courthouse National Military Park. The Fortress is ~15,000 square foot play area for kids from 5 and up, themed in what might appear to be an 18th century military fort.
The Fortress is open daily during all operating hours, however may close intermittently as a result of inclement weather. illuminated by conveniently installed solar lamps, keeping the party going well into the night. We also host a series of wild events within the fortress that are fun for kids of all ages, including laser tag and capture the flag.
The Fortress is also features 8 outdoor community dining tables, as well as several cocktail tables, that each seat up to 16 people, with 3 servers coming around to bring you cocktails, mocktails, and any food items you might want. Additionally, 2 recreation attendants are also there to keep eyes on the kids at all times for their everyone's safety. Please note that servers wear blue shirts and recreation team members wear bright yellow - the recreation staff is there for safety purposes, not service, and they will not hesitate to remind you of that.
Guidelines of Acceptable Behavior while at the Fortress
Outside voices are ENCOURAGED. Kids will be yelling, screaming and shouting. If you have a problem with that, please visit one of the other areas within the confines of The Playground.
Running within the Fortress is NOT Permitted within The Fortress, except during Special Events.
We ask that kids keep all food and drink at the tables. Parents, please be careful. However, accidents do happen. Please, if an accident occurs, for everyone's safety, grab a staff member immediately. The last thing we want is a kid slipping in a spilt beer while ignoring rule #22.
Don't stand at the bottom of the slide. It's dangerous and dumb.
Violence is not tolerated. Pushing, Kicking, hitting, shoving, or any other physical aggression towards another individual, adult or child alike, will be corrected by a recreation attendant. If the behavior is unable to be corrected, the party failing to adhere may be ejected or have their membership revoked. In the event that the aggressor is a guest to another member, the member may also have guest privileges revoked, or even their own membership. Additionally, staff members may use physical force to restrain an uncontrolled individual when others is not capable of doing so. If you do not agree to this rule, please see a staff member to cancel your membership.
Words that are of a profane nature are NOT tolerated within the Fortress.
Smoking of any form is not permitted within the Fortress. Please use Puff's Point for those purposes. If you are going to use chewing tobacco, please be courteous and use a disposable cup from the water stations around The Fortress.
