Introduction days
3th - 5th Feb
3th - 5th Feb
The adventure started when we left our countries to travel a long way to GreenVille in Croatia. We first met for dinner in our common space room. After a long journey, everybody went to sleep.
In the following two days we had a site tour and a general overview of the project. We learnt about how eco-farm works, how is it managed and what will be our work in the next weeks.
In order to understand better not only the project but also ESC (European Solidarity Corps) we participated in an informal workshop conducted by the facilitator, Andrei. Additionally, we took part in a workshop about medical herbs that grown in the area.
6th - 7th Feb
The first official work day we all spend in the forest. Some people were cutting lianas and logs, other sweeping up leaves. It was a productive day! During the next days we split into groups, some of the people went to forest again, other stayed at the GreenVille site to help with the botanical garden (cleaning up the area, pulling the weeds) and some people helped with the maintenance of the house.
Free time
We spend our free time playing cards and interactive games. One evening we an intercultural event. We all shared knowledge about our countries through presentations, food and music.
Just like any day here in Greenville, we started the day by meeting in the common area to have breakfast together. Then we divided into groups (Sponge Squad, Dust Busters and Poop Patrol) to take care of the different cleaning tasks of the day. Afterwards, we were finally ready to start our day of work! One of the teams made its way to the forest polygon to build fences for the game zone. Another one continued taking care of the botanical garden by removing the rocks from the soil and painting its wood platform. A couple of people spent the day cleaning wood stakes and painting them with borax, while others focused on the greenhouse: cleaning, painting and installing the isolation. Lastly, the remaining volounteers focused on digging and using a pneumatic drill in preparation for setting up a water tank. Following the lunch break, we went back to work eager to complete our tasks. The work day ended with the usual reflection time, during which everyone can think back to their day and share with the group their thoughts on it. At 4 p.m. began our free time, which everyone spends how they prefer. Many took this chance to relax in their rooms, to take a shower or to unwind doing some exercise. As per usual, at 7 p.m. we had dinner and spent the rest of the night chatting and playing games. The day came to an end around 11 p.m., when everyone went to bed to recharge for the next great day in Greenville.
Hike
On Saturday, eight people went for a hike from Rude to the top of Ostrc and then back to Samobor.
This challenging experience allowed us to be immersed in nature and see a lot of great views.
Zadar
On Sunday some went to Zadar, a beautiful city on the coast with a unique sea organ that makes music depending on the waves.
It was a relaxing sunny day, great to be ready for the next week.
Zagreb
Four people went to Zagreb city center on Friday night to party. Three other met them on Saturday to visit the capital of Croatia through a city tour.
They saw the upper town and the museum of illusions among other things.
