As parents, it is your job to worry about your child's safety and education when considering schools. Below are just a few trends that parents are often concerned about, and how Green Valley Elementary School addresses them. We hope you will be comforted to know that we are always striving to create the best environment for your children and that our children are our number one priority.
School should be a place where students can learn in peace, and parents can be at ease knowing their child is safe. Green Valley Elementary School promotes safety in our school in multiple ways. We have multiple security protocols, such as checking adults in and out of the building, using surveillance equipment, and training our staff to be ready for any situation. Students will practice a multitude of drills, from fire to earthquake to lockdowns, to make sure they are capable and practiced should anything happen. Most importantly, we have employed many amazing police officers from the local department to protect students from external and internal dangers.
We also acknowledge that school should be a safe space for all our students, especially with the recent trends in mental health among children. Our school works closely with our school counsellors to help students understand their own thoughts and emotions. Teachers have been trained to notice and report any concerns, and will teach their students the value of mental health and how to manage their own. These lessons will be modified based on the age and maturity of each grade and class.
A school is only as good as its education. Here at Green Valley Elementary School, we strive to give your child the best possible education and want to watch them succeed just like you do. We understand that the most important aspect for a student's education is the teacher. As such, our hiring committee is very strict and about who is hired to ensure the highest quality of teachers for our students. The teachers, administration, and other staff here must be patient, knowledgeable, organized, and passionate in their job to be hired here.
Our admin and teachers also rigorously review and modify their curriculum to create the best module for your children. Our goal at Green Valley Elementary School is that your child will leave with a well-rounded education in math, language arts, history, sciences, and arts. They will also learn valuable life skills and moral reflection.
Students will succeed best when they are able to connect with their teacher, feel seen and heard, and can work through confusions with their teacher. Our teachers value their students and the potential they have. They will patient, empathetic, and clear with each and every student.
We make sure to that there are enough classrooms, teachers, and students each year to guarantee class sizes of 15-20. This makes certain that each child can be known by name by their teacher, and that each teacher can know every child and their specific strengths, weaknesses, and educational past. This one-on-one philosophy of teaching will make sure each student feels seen, known, and encouraged to succeed.
We are living in the digital era, and as such want our students to learn through and about the technology around them. Teachers will be trained on how to handle technology in their classrooms to maximize their efficiency. Free Google products, Khan Academy, Kahoot!, and many other free educational platforms will be used by teachers to create captivating and content rich lessons. These online websites and learning managements systems help classes to be more interactive and inclusive. Older students will also begin to learn how to use technology to their advantage for their future education. Technology will never replace direct learning between teachers and students, but will be a useful learning tool.
