Dan Friedman, MS
My journey in environmentalism began as a child in New Jersey, where I was raised by an organic food enthusiast and gardener mother and environmental sociology nerd father. After pursuing environmental coursework in college and earning my BA from the University of Chicago, I set out on a career path that began in outdoor education at the Trinity River Audubon Center. After gaining experience in the environmental education and non-profit world, I went on to pursue an MS from the University of Washington School of Environmental and Forest Sciences, where I focused on biodiversity conservation in urban environments. Most recently I worked as the Sustainability Coordinator for the City of Denton, Texas, where I co-led climate action planning efforts and oversaw municipal wildlife conservation programs, and I now work in the non-profit world supporting legislative advocacy efforts in the Northeastern states. Throughout my experiences, I have developed deep knowledge of environmental issues, ranging from biodiversity protection to sustainable agriculture to climate policy, and I have sharpened my lens for equity by advocating for programs and laws that benefit under-resourced communities.
