These River Watch - ELF lessons were created and spearheaded through a partnership between the Green Crew (the Isaak Walton League of America's youth group) and a Gold Award project by Ambassador Girl Scout Valerie Schmitt.
They're intended to get at the root cause of water misuse nationally: habits and attitudes of nonchalance towards our watersheds. Before policies from companies and governments can degrade our watersheds, they must be created and approved by adults who grew up believing that water was a resource that did not require care or replenishment. We need a different mindset about water, and that's not something that can be changed from lecturing adults, but instead something that requires a new generation to be taught correctly.
As a product of this, River Watch lesson plans were adapted and combined with new materials for kids. We hope they find good use from you.
