Chadwick
Two year old - Male - American Bulldog Mix
Hello there! I'm Chadwick!
I'm a happy-go-lucky fellow, looking for my forever home. I was brought to Great Plains SPCA when someone found me wandering lost and alone. That was an adventure, but I need some people, stability and a home. I'm fun and energetic and ready for activity. If it's exciting, I'm in! I'm easy to walk on leash and would be a great running partner. I love toys and carry them around with me--even on my walks. I'm smart and sweet and snuggly too! I'm young, vibrant and eager to learn. Maybe we could go to training classes together! Whatever it is, I just want to do it with you. Would you give me a chance to show you what a great dog I am?
Foster Requirements:
Chadwick will need to meet all children in the home prior to being adopted.
Boba
Two years old - Male - Boxer
Hi, I'm Boba and I'm sweet as can be! I'm a little petite at 45lbs, and I'm proud to say I'm a staff and volunteer favorite! Everyone loves me because of how handsome and unique I am. My irresistible under-bite is also a frequent discussion among my friends here. I came to the shelter when my previous family wasn't ready to put in the time it took to train me to be the perfect house companion. Since being at the shelter, I've made a lot of progress and am now potty trained. I will just need a routine at home! I get to hang out in offices with staff members and they say I would make a great family member!
On leash, I walk perfectly and usually stay right by my handler's side. Sometimes I get nervous, so I'm always looking to my friends for guidance. I am so eager to please, love treats, and already know sit and shake. I love to play, and am very gentle, so I may be a good fit for a family with kiddos! Sometimes I can get pretty excited, so kids that are experienced with silly gremlins are preferred! I like to play with toys, fetch, and may enjoy activities where I can show off my jumping skills. Some people here call me "Pogo" because of how high I can jump! Because of this, a tall fence or leash walks may be a good idea for me. Though I do get bursts of energy, I really like to just chill. I'm often found curled up on a warm bed. I'm a big cuddler and just want to spend time around people. Watching movies together or sitting next to you while you work sounds like a great time to me! The shelter has been hard for me because the other dogs really stress me out. I'd rather surround myself only with human companions. I would thrive as an only pet in a quiet area where I can finally relax and be the dog I truly am outside of the shelter. I'd love for you to meet me and see this famous under-bite in person!
Foster Requirements:
Boba will need to meet all kids.
Boba will need a home with no other animals.
Goober
Four years old - Male - Boxer
Hiya, I'm Goober! I'm so glad you want to read about me - 70 lbs of pure love and fun!
My friends at Great Plains SPCA brought me in when I was at another shelter, and they have been so nice to me here, but I'm still ready to go home. So, let me tell you more about me!
I'm sorta bad at talking about myself... I can't help it; I would rather be on an adventure with you! Yep, I'm an exploring sort of guy, and I love to share the fun with my people. Really, I love doing just about anything with my people! I'm an honest guy too, so I should tell you that I want to be your one and only pet. I also prefer to be around older kiddos that are up for an adventure too. I promise I have more than enough love to fill your heart, and my silly antics are sure to make you smile!
I'm also pretty smart! Surely, you'll be impressed when you see me show off my "sit" and "come" commands. I'm still working on my leash manners, but I promise I am ready to learn all that you can teach me.
So, what do you say? I think we sound like a pretty good team! Feel free to come and visit me anytime!
Foster Requirements:
Goober must meet all kids in the home.
Goober will need a home with children 16 and older.
Goober will need a home without other animals.

Boss & Birdy
Boss: One year old - Male - American Pit Bull
Birdy: Two years old - Female - American Pit Bull
We arrived at Great Plains SPCA by the HERO team after our owners could no longer care for us.
The shelter environment and being indoors are all new to us; it's a whole new world from our former lives where we lived outside. Before now, we just ran wherever we wanted to go. Since coming to the shelter, we have learned how to walk on a leash! We are each others best friend, and we're a package deal. We make each other feel safe when the world around us has changed so much. We are cautious around new people, so it takes us awhile to open up. But once you know us, we're super gentle and sweet. We didn't get to meet many dogs in our previous home, so we're a bit selective about who we add to our friend group. We'd do better as the only pets, but we're open to meeting another canine companion if they're nice. There is a lot that is still new to us, like sit, shake, and house training. We are learning new things every day, we are ready for our forever home!
They take really good care of us here, and we sleep together in our suite. But we being outside in the great outdoors. The staff here say we would make great farm dogs (as long as we got to sleep somewhere warm and cozy at night).
If you are looking for two energetic pups, come by today and meet Boss and I!
Foster Requirements:
Boss & Birdy will need to meet any children in the home.
Boss & Birdy will need to meet any dogs in the home.
Boss & Birdy are bonded and will need to go in a home together.
Cash
One year old - Male - Australian Cattle Dog
Hello there--
I'm Cash. I'm a sweet, shy guy, just a little uncertain about my situation. You see, my owner who I loved very much, passed away. I didn't know what to do when it happened, so I was really unsure when I first arrived. Everyone here has been super nice, but I just need some time to adjust. I'm doing so much better than when I first came in, though, and I'm sure I would feel even more comfortable in a home. One thing that really helps me is having another dog to live with. I am more confident and relaxed if I have a canine buddy. I love to play and just have my dog friend to keep me company. So I was wondering if you have some kindness and patience to give and might like to add another gentle dog to your life. I'd love to be your dog.
Foster Requirements:
Cash will need to meet everyone in the home, including all kids.
Cash will need to live with another dog.
Rex
Five years old - Male - Retriever Mix
Well hello there! My name is Rex!
At first glance, you may only notice that I am a good looking boy! But I am also very sweet and loving. Plus, I am the perfect size--just 35 pounds.
My day in my Foster home usually starts with breakfast and a run around the yard for my morning exercise. After that I am usually ready for a nap or I might like to play with my favorite toys. I like some activity (car rides and chasing squirrels), but I'm not high energy. Most of the day I just enjoy lounging around the house and being with my Foster mom. I am pretty laid back you could say.
I am also a very well behaved boy and am housetrained and know lots of commands! Plus I never tear anything up that isn't mine. I prefer to stick to my own toys! Well thats pretty much me in a nutshell. If you want some information about me, please reach out to the Foster team at the email above so they can tell you even more great things about me!
I'm such a delightful package. I would love to be your dog. Would you consider taking me home with you?
Foster Requirements:
Rex will need to meet any dogs in the home.
Rex may join a home with kids 12 and up.
Elliot
Eight year old - Male - Great Dane Mix
Hey there!
I'm Elliot, the handsome hunk of Great Plains! I am currently residing in a foster home with my wonderful foster mama and she asked these nice humans here at the shelter to tell you all how amazing I really am! So, here goes, all the great things that you're missing out on in relation to me, Mr. Elliot!
Can you actually believe that I am eight years old? My foster mom says that if I didn't have a powder sugar face you would never know! I love to run and play ball all day, nothing really slows me down and I can handle any stairs like a pro! I love to be close by my person but I can also hang out on my own, I'm honestly the perfect Netflix buddy you could find. While I can be left alone unattended, I can still be a little mischievous, one of my favorite past times is looking for paper to shred (in particular, toilet paper tubes). I can be a little nervous around new people but with time I warm up and can be the best of friends. I am housetrained, know sit, shake and how to keep myself entertained with a few toys and some treats! I love going on walks and finding the perfect sunbathing spot in the backyard or on the deck. I get a bit too excited around small animals, including cats, so I would do best in a home without small dogs or cats and I would need to meet any other dog in the home to make sure it's a good fit for both of us. I also love a good car ride, especially to get a PupCup, whipped cream is the best! All in all, my foster mom says I'm one of the sweetest there is and she can't wait to see me in my forever home. So, what do you say, do you think you could give an old hunk like me a chance?
Foster Requirements:
Elliot will need to meet all children in the home prior to being adopted.
Elliot may join a home with other dogs their size but not small animals or cats.
Elliot will need to meet any dogs in the home.
Kris
Three years old - Female - American Pitbull Terrier
Hello Friends!! I'm Kris - 50 pounds of LOVE.
I have had the pleasure of having several overnights with a volunteer and the volunteer RAVES about me! I am the perfect example of how a dog responds differently in a home vs. in the shelter environment. I really really don't like living in the shelter. Don't get me wrong, everyone is so nice and good to me BUT it is nothing like home living. Wanna hear how I do in the home?
Well, don't mean to brag .... I am PERFECT! I am great in the car, running around the fenced back yard, playing with toys inside. A great sleeping buddy. I do love to spread out on the couch and nap. It is nice and quiet, and I can truly sleep. My manners - WOW - they are wonderful. I'm house trained, treat motivated, know sit, down and working on stay. I LOVE to LOVE - give sweet kisses - Ohhhhhhhh - I cannot wait to have my very own person(s) to love on.
One hiccup. I can be a sloppy drinker!!! Yup - gotta be honest with ya. I sprinkle the floor with water droplets but easily wiped up with a towel. Maybe you could put a mat under my water bowl? Don't let that stop you from coming to the shelter and asking for me. The name is KRIS. Wonderful, fantastic, awesome KRIS.
Love and kisses.
Kris
Foster Requirements:
May join a home with children 8 and up.
May join a home with no small animals.
Must meet everyone in the home, including other dogs.
Anna Marie
One year old - Female - Mountain Cur
Hi, I'm Anna Marie! I love snuggles, giving kisses, and belly rubs. Along with our cuddle sessions, I'm also ready to play anytime you want! I am especially good at fetch and always give the ball back! It's no problem if you have another dog, because I am very respectful of other dogs' space, even if I'm in a playful mood and they aren't. I also already know lots of tricks including sit and shake! I'm also fully potty-trained!
Meeting new people at the shelter makes me a bit nervous. When my foster dad picked me up, I didn't want to go with him...but by the time we got home, we were best friends! It was extremely helpful that he provided treats along the way. Being in a foster home was really nice as I was so happy to be in a real home. With a lot of patience, and treats, it won't take long for me to love you! I would be so grateful for someone to give me the chance to show what an amazing best friend I can be!
Foster Requirements:
Anna Marie must meet all children in the home.
Guinness
One year old - Male - Terrier Mix
HI!!! It's me - Guinness!
Are you looking for a chilled dog? Are you looking for a cuddle buddy? Are you looking for a lover and kisses? Well then, please continue reading because I may be the boy for you. I do not require walks. Do not get me wrong. I'm a fabulous walker with a halter type leash. I enjoy walks but it is mainly for sniffing. I love to sniff. Now, if you want me to be a runner or a fast walker - I could probably do that. I am a young boy after all. Just letting you know my foster mom (FM) and foster dad (FD) are retired and a bit on the lazy side. Don't let them know I said that. I'm also the BEST kisser EVER. I love to give kisses and cuddle. But if you are too busy to cuddle; I'm cool with that too. Give me a comfy dog bed and I'm a happy fella.I am very well-behaved. House and kennel trained. FM and FD leave me in 3 different places when they leave the house without me.
#1 Kennel (My adopter gets a brand-new kennel at no charge)
#2 A room with a closed door
#3 Loose in the home
They wanted to know how I do in every situation, and I do SUPER wherever they leave me. I have no problems being left alone and mind my manners. Car rides!!! I love car rides and again, a chilled boy. Now, I don't want you to think I'm comatose. I love to play with toys. I also get the cutest zoomies. I do want to live in a house with a fenced in yard. I adore sun baths and rolling around in the grass.I love playing with dogs that match my play style. I would be fine being your one and only too! Currently, I have a special dog girlfriend and we have play dates about every 2 weeks. We love each other and LOVE to take turns chasing each other. I am on the shy side with new humans so do need a proper introduction and then I am your friend FOREVER. I didn't know my foster mom (FM) or foster dad (FD) when I went to their home. It didn't take long at all to know they were my friends FM/FD have visitors and even have had parties. Shy dogs like me want to be away from the hubbub of a party. I want to relax in my mancave enjoying my chew toys. So, what do you think? Could you and me be a great match? I sure hope so. FM would love to tell you ALL about me so email her at ksbt@juno.com.
Foster Requirements:
Guinness will need to meet everyone in the home prior to being adopted.
Guinness will need a home where everyone is 16 or older.

5 year old - Female - Terrier Mix
Hello!!! My name is Bug and I am now in a foster home and loving it and I KNOW I'd love your home too AND you will love having me! Read more to learn all the great things about me...
- House and kennel trained. I even go inside my open kennel to rest and will let you know when I need to go out to potty.
- The only items I rip up are my OWN stuffed toys. I love stuffed toys and I save my favorite ones.
- I love to go on walks and I don't need a large backyard. I enjoy leisurely walks and do best on a harness.
- I nap regularly, my favorite thing to do is cuddle up in blankets with my stuffed animals and snore. So, when you need to get work done, I'll be fine snoozing away for as long as you need me too.
- If you want to have a little fun just toss me a toy and encourage me to play because I will happily oblige. I love tossing it into the air, jumping to get it, and making tons of loud snorting sounds. Wiggling my butt is also my signature move.
- The following is very important: I ADORE comforting the ones I love. I am best friend material!
OKAY, now tell me you didn't just read about your dream dog. I am amazing, they tell me so all the time. I should also share what will make my home the best fit for me. We all have needs that help us thrive and here are mine, it's really a short list.
- I would do best in a home that is low traffic without a lot of unfamiliar people walking in and out or the ability to put me away in a crate when people are over because I do love mine.
- I am not looking for a very social life, no dog parks, patios, or parties. I just want to live peacefully at home with you.
The great behavior team at Great Plains SPCA is committed to my care even after adoption. They would love to meet and speak to you about me and what adoption looks like! Please help me find my way home soon.

Noah
One years old - Male - Retriever Mix
Noah?? More like Woah!! I mean, have you ever seen a more handsome dude? I am quite the stunner around here. Apart from my devilish good looks, I'm also told that I walk well on leash. Do you like walks too? I would love to explore the world with you! Do you have dogs? That's great! I'd love to meet them! I'm also super smart and treat motivated. Puzzle feeders are no match for me! I'd love for you to challenge my brain! Now, as to why I'm still here... I'm a little bit scared when meeting new people, and it does take me a bit of time to warm up. I'm also a bit misunderstood. Because I'm scared, I bark really loud, but that doesn't mean I don't want to meet you! I just need someone that understands I'm scared and is willing to give me the time to get to know you. I promise that I'm worth it! My Foster family even has new people over all the time to their house and I do great with them! I just need to be understood that I am a shy, shelter dog and still getting the hang of the whole "family dog" thing. Speaking of family I LOVE my Foster family! They are the best! They say their house is already too full of pets where they live or they would adopt me in a heartbeat. Here is some notes that my Foster mom said about me:
"Noah is possibly the sweetest, most affectionate dog. He is a dog loving, kid loving, energetic, playful goofball. Noah engages with both my dogs appropriately. He entertains himself with toys and has created his own obstacle course. He does great with people outside of the house. At our store he greets strangers and lets them pet him. He follows our dog Elvis's lead and does great."
As you can see, I'm the whole package! There is just one more thing to mention... I HATE being alone. Can you blame a pup though? I have been alone for so long that I am scared my people won't come back for me so I get pretty nervous. My ideal home would be one that can hang out at home with me a lot or doesn't mind taking me along for the adventure! As my Foster mom mentioned I do great in the car and even get to go to her store with her because I am so well behaved! If you think you can do the same and want a buddy to take on life with I am just the pup for you! Come in and ask to meet your new best friend today!
Foster Requirements:
Noah will need to meet all children in the home.
Noah will need a home with chilren 5 and older.
Noah will need to go home with another dog.
Woody
Two years old - Male - Retriever
Hello! My name is Woody! I check a lot of boxes for being one of the best pups around. Do you want to hang out and watch TV or read? Works for me! I am fine curling up on the floor. Sometimes I watch TV too! Do you feel like playing with me? I am always game for that! In fact, I like to get all my toys out of my foster's toy basket to choose which toy I want to play with. I enjoy going on short walks and will be able to take longer ones when my heartworms clear up. My foster mom says I have really good leash manners. I love spending time with my doggie friend at my foster's house. We have blast playing together in the backyard! Did I tell you I am a fast learner too? I stand at the back door when I need to go out and I know how to sit too! I'm learning other commands too. I do not prefer to be on the couch or bed, I really like my space on the floor. I don't use my voice a lot either. If I hear a strange noise, I might bark once or twice. All around, I'm a mellow, lovable guy with a big heart and I will love you right back!
Foster Requirements:
Woody will need to meet any children in the home.
Woody will need to live with another dog.
Zaria
Five years old - Female - Terrier
Hello there! I'm Zaria!
I was living in a crowded shelter after giving birth to my six puppies when I was transferred to Great Plains SPCA. They let me and my puppies live in a foster home with a wonderful family. I nursed my puppies for a few weeks, but they are now weaned and starting their new lives. I've done my motherly duties and now it's time for me to be on my own and find my forever family!
At five years old, I'm the perfect age. I'm finished with all of that puppy nonsense but still young enough to play and go on adventures. I love to fetch a tennis ball or a squeaky toy and go on long walks. I'm super smart and already know sit and shake. Let's got to obedience classes and learn more!
I'm also into hugs and physical affection. I'll give it right back to you with doggie kisses. Stop by the shelter to meet me today!
Love,
Zaria
Foster Requirements:
Zaria must meet all kids in the home.
Zaria must meet all dogs in the home.
Buttercup
One year old - Female - Terrier
Hi there! Are you ready to meet your new best friend? Because that could be me! I'm Buttercup and I'm one of the sweetest girls in town. I'm a little shy when you first meet me, but with a little bit of patience and whole lot of treats (my favorite part), we'll be best buds! New people can be stressful, so just be willing to take it slow while we get to know each other. Once you've given me a few treats, and I know you a little better, we can do everything together! My favorite pastimes include cuddling, chasing tennis balls, jogging with my foster, playing with my Kong, and eating! I still have some puppy energy, so it is important to keep me occupied, but after some exercise you'll be sure to have a big cuddle bug next to you on the couch! Please contact the Foster team if you're interested so I can meet you soon!
Foster Requirements:
Buttercup must meet everyone in the home.
Buttercup must meet all kids.
Buttercup may join a home with chilren 5 and older.
