Cats In Need of Foster

Needing a Foster Home

Prince

Three years old - Male Domestic Shorthair

Oh hi there! My name is Prince. Before I came to the shelter, my life was really tough. All 8 of my siblings and I lived in one house together in deplorable conditions. We were not fixed and all tested positive for FIV. We never had the chance to positively interact with people. Luckily for us, the HERO program rescued us and brought us to the shelter. We are healthy now, but still adjusting to being at the shelter. Because we never met new people when we were growing up, meeting new humans now is very scary. We need lots of time to get used to a new family and new smells. Giving us lots of hiding spaces will make us feel safe and secure. Using really yummy treats like Churu or tuna will help me come out of my shell as well! All my siblings and I have made really great progress here at the shelter and have started to come out of our shells bit by bit. I'm currently living in a foster home and there are friends for me here. I get along with both the dogs and cats (though the youngest dog likes to play tag where everyone else is always "it"). In fact, now I love cuddling my foster mom in bed, as well as the other animals. Having the other cat helped me adapt easier, so I'd like to have a friend, but I would also be fine with all the attention too!

My siblings and I have never known what it means to be in a loving home. Being at the shelter means that we are safe, but we need a family to love us! Could your home be the perfect fit for me?

Love,

Prince

Foster Requirements:

  • Prince has been diagnosed with FIV as part of our routine screening for cats in the shelter. This test has been confirmed via an outside reference lab as well. FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus and is a virus that can cause a weakening of the cat's immune system. This is strictly limited to cats. People and dogs cannot get FIV. FIV is spread typically from deep bite wounds from an FIV-positive cat to another cat. It can also be transmitted from an FIV-positive mother cat to her kittens. It is important that Prince remains an indoor cat after adoption. FIV-positive cats typically live a normal life, but they may be prone to getting infections or dental disease, so routine veterinary care is important, as it is for any cat. Prince has had a physical examination and has been cleared for adoption by our medical team. Please email, call, or come in if you have further questions.

  • Prince may go home with children 12 and older.
