There is no expectation for Scouts to purchase camping equipment. We have a limited selection of some of the gear needed and much can be borrowed from family and friends.
There are many uniforms around from former youth as they outgrow and/or move on. Talk to your network or your Scouter to see if any are available.
As the Scout Shop has a minimum order we usually make regular orders as a group. This is usually organized by one of the leaders of your group. Use the link below to go to the Scout Shop Website to figure out what size your youth is.
Gravenhurst Scouting is 100% volunteer run. We recieve nothing from the fee you pay to Scouts Canada and therefore need to fundraise. We need everyone to participate as much as they can. Our usual fundraisers are:
Apple Day - Weekend before Thanksgiving Weekend. Youth get assigned a location to ask for donations and people receive an apple in return.
Breakfast with Santa - Late November/Early December. Youth help with serving and cleaning up. Parents and youth help with advertising, setting up, taking down, cooking and organizing.
We often have other fundraisers and are open to ideas and opportunities.
All parents are part of the Group Committee. This is the organization that runs Scouting in Gravenhurst and the Scout Hall. Our meetings are usually the last Wednesday of the month from 7pm-9ish. Everyone is welcome. Come and share your ideas, concerns, complaints and energy. Check with your Scouter to ensure that there is a meeting on the date you think it is!
