The Great Wave off Kanagawa is among the most beloved art works in the world. In The Great Wave everything is in motion except for the still presence of Fuji. The print by Hokusai is part of a collection he called Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji. The collection shows folks going about their lives while Mount Fuji resides in the background. The Thirty-Six Views shows Fuji from the same place in time. This exhibit shows Fuji as time moves along. The first print is Hokusai's The Great Wave. Fuji is followed through more than a hundred years by generations of artists. The still presence of Fuji remains the same.
