Recently, it was found out that one of Granny's laughs was taken from Child's Play 2, from the Chucky franchise. I myself am a big Chucky fan myself, and was shocked! The video proof is given above. Now this isn't confirmed by DVloper, but he has said before that he likes to take small sounds from movies and use them in his game. Pretty cool!

Click here to see a speculation of what Granny 4 could be like!
Ever since Granny took off in 2017, DVloper made two sequels, Granny: Chapter Two and Granny 3. But ever since then, games rarely received updates, and when they did, they only got bug fixes, adding nothing new to the game. So of course, multiple fan games were made, but nothing official from DVloper himself. And for a little while, it seemed like we would not get a Granny 4 (I mean, the peak player count for Granny 3 was 7 players in September in the Steam charts). But recently, Granny 1 has been receiving its first few major updates in two years. The first update being where Halloween mode was added to Granny, along with a limping on/off feature. This added several new decorations and a new tint to the game. And then in December, we got a Christmas update, which added a character that significantly impacted gameplay (a tiny Santa that knocks things out of the players hands), and new items as well as a new orange tint to the game. All of these updates are sudden, as DVloper never made anything different in Granny for Halloween mode, and all DVloper did for Christmas in the past years was add one Christmas tree and one tiny Santa hat on Granny's head.
So what do these updates mean for the future of Granny? Or what does this mean for the DVloper universe? Will we get new games or further sequels to main entries in the franchise such as Granny and Slendrina? Here's what we think.
Granny has massively spiralled down from the popularity it once had. Millions of YouTubers (like the Frustrated Gamer and Kindly Keyin) made Let's Play videos of Granny, and in 2018 Granny was the most impactful games of all. But it soon died afterwards. Nowadays, has much less players. But here's the thing.
Granny 1 (mobile) still makes somewhere from $15,000 to $50,000 per day just from ad-revenue, which is an insane amount of money for a game that has lost so much popularity. And even though many have left the game, a handful more of YouTubers still play the Granny games in the big 25!
According to this data, we think that Granny will continue to get updates and possibly a new entry in the DVloper franchise. This might be a sign that DVloper still shows interest in his games and is dropping hints for an upcoming DVloper project! It can be a new game for Granny or The Twins, maybe a major update to one of his existing games or maybe a new game all together not connected to existing storylines like Granny, Slendrina and The Twins.
Whatever it may be, we're positive something major is coming somewhere in 2026. DVloper is showing signs of life, which is amazing, even if some players disliked the new updates to Granny (Halloween update was disliked by some fans for using too much AI).
DEC 7 25
In the recent months, Granny has been receiving new updates, based on the occasion. Like a few days before Halloween, we got the Granny Halloween update, and a whole 25 days before Christmas, we got the Christmas update. So which one is the better update? These will be ranked based on the amount of decorations, new items, new characters, and auditory changes
DECORATIONS AND VISUAL CHANGES:
Halloween:
10 changes
Jack 'o' lanters that stare at the player
Witch costumes for all characters
Bats flying around the house
Rats from nightmare mode (don't harm the player)
Blue-ish tint to the game
Lantern mode (adds extra lights around the house)
The sky is now slightly blue and pink
Planet Earth visible in the sky
Spiders that jump out and scare the player
A cauldron in the backyard. If the player puts a dead rat in it, it forms a ghost, which floats around the house, not affecting gameplay
Christmas:
8 changes
Christmas stockings around the house
Christmas wallpapers in selective rooms
Snowman in the backyard that stares at the player
Layer of snow in the backyard
Orange-ish tint to the game
A gingerbread house with Granny in it
Christmas themed outfits for all characters
Sky in now slightly grey and purple
Halloween mode get's the point for this round, winning by two extra decorations. It definitely had more to showcase.
NEW ITEMS:
Halloween:
1 change
A dead rat (Does not affect gameplay)
Christmas:
2 changes
A Christmas tree ornament that acts like a bomb
Another Christmas tree ornament which is like the Freeze Trap, but only usable once
Christmas mode gets the point for this one as it has good items that actually effect gameplay, unlike Halloween mode.
NEW CHARACTERS:
Halloween:
1 character that does not affect gameplay
A skeleton that vomits on the player if sees them (fun element, but does not significantly effect gameplay)
Christmas:
1 character that significantly effects gameplay
A tiny Santa Claus that roams around the house. If he sees the player, he will go up to them and slap them, causing the player to drop whatever item they we're holding. (This affects gameplay much more than the skeleton, as now there is an extra enemy in the house)
Christmas also gets the point for this one, as the new character plays a much more important role.
AUDITORY CHANGES:
Halloween:
5 changes
Adds a new theme for the front page
New Halloween theme for the gameplay
New Halloween themed chase music
New sound of the Skeleton vomiting on the player
Sound effect of the ghost being summoned in the cauldron
Christmas:
7 changes
Adds a new Christmas theme for the front page
New Christmas theme for the gameplay
New Christmas theme for the chase music
Santa laughs every time he slaps the player
Santa screams while charging towards the player
The bomb plays a short Christmas theme before exploding
The freeze-trap like ornament has the sound of some icy air
Christmas also gets the point for this one.
Although the Halloween mode adds more decorations to the game, the Christmas mode affects the actual gameplay much more, by adding useful characters, new items and much more. Christmas mode wins by 3 more points.
Halloween mode is still really good though.
DEC 6 25
Granny just got a new update, 1.8.8! This update is like the Halloween mode, but this time, it's Christmas! There have been Christmas modes in the past, but those only added one Christmas tree and Granny only wore one santa hat. Now, she's fully dressed up, has a new tint to the game, new items and weapons, other decorations and new characters!
New Stuff:
DECORATIONS
Granny now wears a Santa Claus outfit, complete with the beard, hat and dress. This is a much better suit than the usual Christmas outfit Granny used to wear in the older versions, which was just a Christmas hat.
There are Christmas themed wallpapers in certian rooms
Angeline wears a Christmas themed outfit as well
Spider-Mom has deer Anthers on her head
There is a snowman in the backyard that looks directly at the player
There is an orangish tint to the house
There is a layer of white snow in the backyard
On the main menu, Granny can be seen wearing her outfit as well as Teddy, with a gift beside her
There are two Christmas trees, one in the Study and another in the Old House Kitchen
Christmas stockings can be spotted around the house
A gingerbread house with Granny in it is there as well
If the lantern is chosen as a light source, it adapts to the Christmas theme as well by being orange in colour.
AUDITORY DIFFERENCES:
There is a Christmas charm in the music in the background, with a much less horror aspect. The chase music is also very similiar
The sound of the player walking on the snow in the backyard is new to the game
The tiny Santa laughs every time he slaps the player
GAMEPLAY DIFFERENCES:
There are three presents around the house, each containing something, useful and dangerous for the player.
One of the presents is an enemy. It is a tiny Santa that slaps the player to make them drop the item they're holding. However, he does not physically deal any damage to the player.
Another one of the presents includes a Christmas ornament, that acts like a sort of freeze trap. When dropped on the ground, it released snowy and icy air, freezing Granny. However, the ornament is only usable once, and breaks when it falls on the ground.
Another present includes another ornament with a different premise. It acts like a bomb. Once dropped on the floor, it begins a countdown followed by some Christmas themed music and explodes, killing/stunning the enemy
There seems to be a visual glitch in the Granny Halloween update, specifically on PC. When on Medium or High quality mode, the house has a blue-ish ting, but is more darker and creepy, whereas on low quality, the house's blue tint is much more visible, and from farther areas too.
We think this isn't on purpose, as all graphic qualities should ideally give the same game experience.
Medium, High Quality
Low Quality
DVloper just added Granny's newest update, which is a Halloween mode! This is the first update made to granny in TWO YEARS, so its really exciting to see signs of hope for a Granny 4 or other DVloper games! Click to see it's speculation here.
New stuff in Halloween Mode:
DECORATIONS
There are jack 'o' lanterns and skeletons as decorations, and they occasionally laugh once the player walks by them
There are random spiders that jump down from the wall to scare the player
There is a skeleton that walks around the house, and occasionally vomits on the player if they have seen them. However, this does no harm to the player apart from dirty their screen a little.
Granny, spider mom and Angeline are all in witch costumes
The flashlight changes to lantern, and adds some lights around the house
The house has a blue-ish tint on pc, and an orange on on mobile.
You can see planet EARTH from the backyard, which might spike a new Granny theory, about how the player isn't actually on earth when in Granny's house, though this is very unlikely, as in the normal version of the game you can see the moon.
GAMEPLAY DIFFERENCES:
The skeleton or Granny do not appear in practice mode
There is a cauldron in the backyard, with a dead rat next to it, and if you put the dead rat inside the cauldron, it summons a ghost, which just fly's around the house making noises, but does not hurt the player. This isnt a major change though, all it does is add a new item.
There is a skeleton can be a distraction, so it affects gameplay, but still not majorly.
New stuff in the game!
Apart from the new Halloween mode, the main game has gotten some changes.
There is a new limping on/off feature
You can choose light sources between a lantern and flashlight
There is a button to show or skip the intro
The intro scene is more clear, and it looks as if the player is on the moon, which might be proof that the player isn't actually on earth when in granny's house
Spider-Mom is now gone from the Spider celllar when you select practice mode
The flashlight model has changed
Many argue over the fact whether Granny on mobile or Granny on PC is better. We're here to break it down, and see how mobile or PC can be better in some ways.
Graphics
After looking at the graphics of PC, you would NOT want to switch back to Granny on Mobile. Everything is much clearer and looks much more real. The larger screen on PC is definitely much better if you want to give yourself a good scare. 1 point for PC.
Scariness
Obviously PC. It has the darker atmosphere and overall the textures give the game a more chilling style, and improving the scariness in the game. Another point for PC
Options
Though none of the versions have any kind of difference in the options menu, you can disable "Dark Mode" on mobile. However, on the PC version it's always dark. Though that just makes the overall game more scary, we have to give this point to mobile.
Updates
More people play Granny on mobile, since it is free. And that's probably why whenever there's an update for Granny it's always first on mobile. It does eventually come on PC, but for updates, mobile takes the point.
Controls
Granny on PC is significantly easier to play on PC, but for some users, touchscreens are better. We can't give a point to any versions on this.
Distractions
The final point goes to PC. The mobile version of Granny needs money to work without ads. And ads are often distracting for most players.
Final Winner -
PC - It's much better in terms of graphics, gameplay and scariness. Though it does lack updates, it is safe to say that PC is the better option.
PC - 3/5
Mobile - 2/5
PC is 40% better than mobile
