Attention EVERYONE: All hands on deck!!
Join our Family Council! We need your help with addressing issues affecting our loved ones and improving their quality of life!
Once you become a member, your feedback can be shared either by attending any of our monthly virtual meetings, or by reaching out to us directly. In turn, we will send you information and updates on a regular basis to help empower you as an advocate. If you wish to become more involved, it’s up to you! Depending on your background, interest and availability, you can volunteer to tackle a specific assignment or fulfill an official role, such as:
Family Council Chair (presently filled) Responsibilities: keeping the home informed of any systemic issues identified by council; sharing suggestions regarding solutions and ideas for improvement brought forward by council; monitoring the home’s response; following up with the home as needed until an outcome is achieved; record keeping.
Vice-Chair (vacant)
Communications/Secretary (presently filled) Responsibilities: Organize the virtual meetings, Act as liaison and facilitates partnership between Family Council and the home Maintain a structured and effective method of addressing issues with the home Manage record keeping. Oversea activities, programs, initiatives.
Research Analyst for legislation and policy Analyst (presently filled) Responsibilities: With respect to Fixing Long Term Care Act, Ontario Regulations 245/22, Sienna Living policies, IPAC standards etc., MLTC Inspection Reports
Treasurer/volunteer contact/special events (presently filled)
Second Event Coordinator (vacant)
Family Council Rep for the Continuous Quality Improvement Committee (vacant)
Family Council Liaison to Resident Council and Sienna Council (vacant)
Recruitment officer (vacant)
OTHER POSSIBLE ROLES (or can you think of something else?)
Education Coordinator: Presents information about the home, the long-term care system, and relevant topics.
Fundraiser (optional): If the council engages in fundraising, this role would manage those activities.
Member-at-Large: Participates in discussions, offers input, and supports the council's work.
Liaison: Connects with specific resident groups or departments within the home.
Meeting Participant: Attends meetings, contributes to discussions, and stays informed about issues.
SMEE: Subject Matter Expert --- taking on a role in specific issues/topics
Or you might think of something you'd like to take on to make things better for the residents and the staff.
