We offer an exceptional and dynamic experience for medical students rotating through our multiple sites. Our main hospital features a comprehensive 56-bed adult ED and a dedicated 10-bed pediatric ED, complemented by three freestanding emergency departments where students can also gain valuable experience.
Medical students engage directly with our residents, participate in weekly didactics, monthly wellness events, and journal clubs, and benefit from unique mentorship opportunities. We pair interested students with our residents, providing guidance through the interview and match process, offering constructive feedback, and serving as a resource for their future endeavors.
Weekly meetings with our clerkship director cover high-yield topics in emergency medicine, ensuring our students receive targeted, practical knowledge. Additionally, they have the exclusive opportunity to attend an informational session with our in-house toxicology expert, deepening their understanding of EM toxicology. Additionally, students gain exposure to our ultrasound fellowship experience by attending a scanning shift with our fellows, which includes dedicated didactics. Shifts are structured similarly to our EM residents schedules. Medical Students will work directly with our clinical faculty on their shifts.
As a medical student, you can expect 14 shifts with at least 3-4 of those being night shifts.
Medical students play an active role in patient care, conducting patient interviews, and performing procedures under the supervision of our experienced attending physicians and residents. This hands-on approach ensures that our medical students leave with a comprehensive, well-rounded experience in emergency medicine and our department.
We offer SLOE's to all EM-bound medical students should they request one.
