How to replace the battery in a Grand Prix GXP

I wrote these instructions on a forum that no longer exists (Club GP possibly?) around 2010 when I was in my 20s. I've never gotten around to retyping the instructions, but I've used this 10+ year old print out every time I've had to remove my fuse box or replace my battery over the years. Figured it would be helpful for y'all. It's nice not having to remember the process or what exact tools are needed or what order to do things.

Worth mentioning... it's very important for the bolts in the fusebox to get snug. You might find that they rotate forever and ever (without stripping, fortunately). I learned a tip from someone regarding that, and it works well. When you have your 7mm socket driver on it and it doesn't seem to be tightening, lightly hit the end of the socket driver with your palm and try tightening some more. If you get lucky, you'll get them all snug that way.

Installing a trickle charger

By the way, if you garage your GXP like I do, you can wire in a Battery Tender Plus really easily and you won't have to replace your battery every 2 or 3 years if you do that. It comes with all you need. The positive (red) ring terminal on the harness goes on the stud at the top of the fuse box. The ground (black) ring goes on the ground nut that's just above the passenger side headlight. Then you can slip the harness to the outer side of the battery when you drive. When you get home, pop the hood, fish the end out with your hand, and plug it into the Battery Tender Plus. Super easy. Very convenient if you're like me and only put about 3 to 6 miles a day on your GXP.
