Phrases

Why is it important to be able to identify phrases? How else can you make sure your subject and verb match if there's a prepositional phrase between them? How will you avoid splitting your infinitives? 😱 Most importantly, how will you figure out where in the heck to put those rascally commas that should go after introductory prepositional phrases, after introductory participial phrases, and around appositive phrases?  There's only one way for sure, and that's to know your phrases.
