"Grainger and Allison's textbook of Diagnostic Radiology has proved popular over the years with radiology trainees...I am sure the book will be well thumbed by potential radiological examination candidates."

After qualifying in medicine in 1996 Dr Grant completed basic surgical training at the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham prior to working for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals for four years until entry back into specialist training within the NHS. Upon completing his radiology training at Addenbrookes Hospital, including a specialist year at the Royal Marsden Hospital, he was appointed as a consultant radiologist at the Royal Free Hospital in 2010. His areas of sub specialisation include hepatobiliary imaging as well as urological imaging. He is a core member of the hepatobiliary and urological MDT lead radiologist for research activities within the radiology department and co-lead radiologist for cancers of the GU system.

Master the information you need to know for practice and prepare for certification or recertification with a succinct, comprehensive account of the entire spectrum of imaging modalities and their clinical applications. Throughout six outstanding editions, Grainger and Allison's Diagnostic Radiology has stood alone as the single comprehensive reference on general diagnostic radiology. Now in two succinct volumes, the 7th Edition of this landmark text continues to provide complete coverage of all currently available imaging techniques and their clinical applications - the essential information you need to succeed in examinations and understand current best practices in radiological diagnosis.

I have compiled the books that I found useful during my residency and fellowship. I know the list is long and it is not feasible for a first-year radiology resident to buy ALL books, but you can always read the reference books in the library or alternatively share books with your colleagues. Books and systems are listed in the order of priority: Essentials to optional.

Most of GI radiology is covered in the fundamental and body imaging books. Mayo Clinic Gastrointestinal Imaging Review and Introduction to Fluoroscopy: For Residents & Professionals Alike are good books for fluoroscopy which is not covered well in these books.

Although radiology is not one of the major subjects in medical school, it is increasingly being integrated into everyday clinical practice and hence it is imperative for medical students to be cognizant with the basics of radiology. Also after the introduction of the NEET entrance exam, radiology has assumed more importance in the entrance exams. These are a few books that medical students can read for learning the basics of radiology and help them with these exams as well.

P.S. Make sure you buy the latest edition while buying online. Also, a lot of websites and telegram groups offer free radiology books PDFs but I would not recommend these, and you should prefer reading books in the physical form. 17dc91bb1f
