Globalization refers to the process by which the world’s economic, political, cultural, and societal dynamics are becoming increasingly interconnected and interdependent.
1. Economic Globalization: the process of expanding world trade networks to encourage more economic interdependency of markets.
2. Social Globalization: the process by which people’s lifestyles connect and spread over global networks (e.g. TikTok, access to mobile devices, internet, etc.)
3. Political Globalization: the process by which political decisions and actions are becoming increasingly international (e.g. summits, international development)
4. Historical Globalization: the study of the impact of global affairs of people/cultures in the past (e.g. slave trade, residential schools, imperialism)
5. Environmental Globalization: the attempt to combat the world’s pollution and climate problems together as one planet, as opposed to one country trying to do it alone.
Watch the video below on how a banana ends up in your hands from somewhere far across the ocean.
After watching the video, go onto JamBoard. Scroll through the five types of globalization and add a sticky note on at least 3 types of globalization linking the banana trade to globalization. Make sure you write your name on the sticky note, so that I know who posted what.
