Vocabulary Strategies

This document contains a chart of 14 different Vocabulary Game ideas. This can be a reference when I enter the field; these games can be utilized in my classroom to boost engagement with vocabulary. 

This is a template for an ELA vocabulary log. It is labeled "Student Dictionary" so that students feel they are assembling something academic, yet personal. This template can be printed off and given to students, so they can write directly into it. They can also choose to fill it out online. The areas addressed will boost students' personal understanding of the vocabulary word.  

This is an example of how to tier vocabulary and discern which vocabulary words are important to teach to the students. It will help a teacher to decide which vocabulary needs review or if its a new exposure to the word. The exmaple used in this document is Poetry: a unit that may be used in an ELA classroom.
