Prayer requests

Greetings to all volunteers,

Romans 12:3–5

3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. 4 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, 5 so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.

Thank you all for coming out to the meeting tonight. It is truly a joy to see the body of Christ built up as each member fills their role in the body.

Per our discussion, here are a few things to remember and preach to ourselves daily.

1. God is mighty. He is sovereign. We are privileged to be serving a glorious King. Not only is He our Master, He is also our loving Father who so graciously takes care of us. God’s purposes will continue, and He will accomplish all that He pleases. We get to be part of that plan to find the true purpose of life in giving our life to Him through service to others. Romans 12:1-2. He is in no need of our worship, but we are in dire need of Him. High view of God will yield awe, reverence, and joy in service.
2. Ministry exists for people. Serving people that they may find their ultimate satisfaction in God for His glory is our end goal. We focus on people, not programs. The trellis is merely a help so that the vine may bloom.
3. Be spirit-filled. Colossians 3:16 and Ephesians 5:18 follow with similar fruit, but two different roots. One root is being filled with the Spirit and the other root is letting the Word of Christ dwell in us richly. One conclusion—being spirit-filled is equivalent to letting the Word dwell in us. Bathe in the Word and prayer.
4. Pray. “Abide in me. As the branch cannot bear fruit apart from the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me...ask whatever you wish…”. The context of the whole gospel of John is disciple-making. John 13–17 that calls us to prayer is specifically calling us to pray for the fruit—that is—souls being saved. Pray for that first and foremost. Pray also for the yourself that you be conformed more to Christ’s image and where he would have you serve. Pray also for the volunteer team.
