2019 Russia Trip

Travel To Russia In 2019 To Support The United Methodist Church

We are in the early planning stages to put together a trip to Volgograd, Russia in 2019. There are many planning details to be considered. It is important that we begin this process by establishing who might be interested in this travel. If you are interested, just send an email to hworkman9@ gmail.com.

There is no obligation at this time; you will simply be put on the mailing list. We will be interested in knowing how many in each family may be going, and whether there are teenagers or younger children involved. Here is the FAQ list.

· When will the trip be held? Undecided. It will be spring, summer, or fall of 2019 to maximize the number of travelers.

· How many will be going? The practical number is probably 12; enough for getting some airline discounts (maybe) and few enough to minimize transportation difficulties.

· Where will we be visiting? For sure we will take a guided tour of Moscow that includes visiting Red Square and the UMC seminary. Of course we will visit Volgograd where the two churches are located. Side trips will also be included.

· Can travelers make stops in Europe after visiting Russia? Yes, you may arrange your own post-trip vacation in Europe afterwards.

· Where will we stay? On previous trips we have stayed in seminary dorm rooms in Moscow, and in parishioner’s homes in Volgograd.

· What will the food be like? Don’t worry; our hosts will not treat us to strange food – unless you ask for it.

· What will be accomplished on this trip? The primary purpose of this trip is to visit the United Methodist churches in Russia to encourage them and to help them bring new members into their churches to practice the Christian Religion. The Russian government controls the press and promotes a derogatory view of the United States and any religion not directly supported by the government. Our physical presence encourages them to adhere to the Christian principles and beliefs that serve to guide their lives and their relationships with others.
