Government Polytechnic Rajkot

Government polytechnic Rajkot was established in the month of June 1964 by the government of Gujarat with an initial intake of 60 students in the civil engineering Diploma Course. This Polytechnic initially located at Rajkot. The new and fully equipped building for the Polytechnic was constructed later in the Year 1966 , on a hillock near Aji Dam, a green lush surrounding ideal for the academics. This place is about 6Km. away from the Railway station.

Rajkot is a well-known industrial city of Gujarat state. Rajkot is famous for its diesel Engine industries in all over the India. It is situated on Bombay-Okha broad gauge line of western Railway and 8B national highway. Leading industries of the city are Field Marshal, K.Rasiklal & Co., Echjay Steel, Forge & Forge Pvt. Ltd. and developing industrial zone of ,Lodhika, Metoda and Shaper which are recognized for backward industrial area by Gujarat industrial Development Corporation which gives high potentiality of Industrial growth.

Principal's Message

Government Polytechnic, Rajkot is the largest polytechnic in the region of Saurashtra-Gujarat, imparting technical education since 1964. Being an Industrial city, Rajkot is known for innovative products from tiny needle to the tons of mechanical parts of automobiles, machinery, and aircraft. This institute is offering Mechanical & metallurgy engineering in addition to Electrical, Civil, Chemical, EC, and IT engineering. Through Make in India, the focus of the country right now is on the manufacturing at our place either by the development of our own technology and design or by collaboration with foreign industries or by technology transfer. Our engineering pass-outs will have a good number of jobs if we have a huge manufacturing sector in our country. To achieve this, the institutes can play a vital role by developing a set of the state of the art skills among our young engineers to cater to the need of today’s industries. It is necessary to develop a skilled human force, so that they can apply their knowledge and perform successfully in the field of their study and have better employment opportunities. It is also now high time to make our students' Job creators rather than Jobseeker. By developing entrepreneurship skills through startup and inspiring students towards minor innovations for solving day-to-day grass root level problems of industry/society and people, we can serve our objectives in the coming days. I am excited to serve my students through my human and technical resources for their better and bright tomorrow. I welcome all new students at this institute and appeal to existing students to share their knowledge, experience, and great heritage of institutes with their juniors.
