The Glenview Park Golf Club was originally established as the Elmgate Country Club in 1920 and was designed by Joseph A. Roseman. The Glenview Park District purchased it in 1955, converting it into a public, municipal daily fee course.
1920: The course originally opened as the Elmgate Country Club, designed by Joseph A. Roseman, an inventive figure in early American golf who also pioneered modern fairway irrigation.
1955: The Glenview Park District acquired the property, which was known at the time as the Chesterfield Golf Club, and renamed it the Glenview Park Golf Club, making it accessible to the public.
Renovations: The course has undergone several redesigns and renovations over the years:
1961: Redesigned by Larry Packard.
1985: Redesigned by Ken Killian.
2015: A significant renovation was completed by architect Rick Jacobson. This project focused on improving playability, enhancing turf grass conditions with bent grass fairways and greens, rebuilding bunkers, and implementing a major storm water management system to mitigate local flooding. The clubhouse was also renovated as part of this project.
In the event of inclement weather, be sure to check your email and / or contact the golf course at (847) 724-0250. The course and / or league officers will advise if play is on or not, and also advise of course conditions. If the course is wet there may be golf cart restrictions such as cart path only or 90 degree rule. The course understands that cart path only is an inconvenience to several members and may lead to player cancellations. This also reduces revenue to the course so the restrictions are only imposed to prevent damages that can seriously impact the golf course, in general.
