AEA_ECAT Mini Symposium
Carmen Grech and John Spiteri, two representatives of the G.A.D attended the AEA_ECAT Mini Symposium held last Sunday at the Grand Hotel Excelsior. Briefly the salient topics concerned Hard of Hearing people in employment, ear wax management, direct-to-consumer technologies, future of hearing care and AI. "Is the telecoil dead?" was a much heated debate which brought the symposium towards its conclusion.
Through this very informative event, the G.A.D has gained new contacts with whom, in future, it will be liaising to advocate for all deaf and hard of hearing persons.

OtoAcoustic Emission (OAE)
🇲🇹 Żieda ta’ apparat ġdid fil-klinika tal-Gozo Association for the Deaf. Din l-inizjattiva hija sostnuta permezz tal- “NGO Scheme”, skema ta’ finanzjament mill-Ministeru għal Għawdex u l-Ippjanar għall-Organizzazzjonijiet Volontarji f’Għawdex.
Dan l-apparat jintuża biex isir screening u testijiet dijagnostiċi għal persuni ta’ kull eta’.
🇬🇧 A new testing instrument for the clinic at the Gozo Association for the Deaf. This initiative is being supported by the Ministry for Gozo and Planning’s NGO Scheme, a funding programme for Voluntary Organisations on the Island of Gozo.
This instrument is used for screening and diagnostic testing for all ages.
Il-Konferenza "The Deaf Achiever!"
Il-Gozo Association for the Deaf għada kemm organiżżat konferenza f’Għawdex, ‘The Deaf ACHIEVER’ fil-lukanda Ta’ Ċenċ. Din il-konferenza kienet immirata għall-edukaturi fl-iskejjel tal-istat u tal-Knisja, kif ukoll għal stakeholders oħra li huma nvoluti fl-edukazzjoni tat-tfal u studenti neqsin mis-smigħ.
Il-punt fokali kien dwar sapport adekwat li hu meħtieġ li jingħata ħalli l-istudenti neqsin mis-smigħ jkunu kapaċi jisfruttaw il-potenzali kollha tagħhom ħalli jiksbu success f’ħajjithom, kemm fil-kamp edukattiv, kif ukoll dak soċjali. Fost il-punti li ġew diskussi kien hemm l-isfidi li jiffaċċjaw waqt it-tagħlim, il-kundizzjoni akustika tal-klassijiet, l-impatt tal-iżvilupp tal-lingwa li taffetwa l-kapaċita meta jiġu biex jaċċessaw il-curriculum u t-teknoloġija li tgħin l-istudenti neqsin mis-smigħ jifhmu iktar ċar id-diskors speċjalment f’ambjent storbjuż.
Din il-konferenza seħħet permezz ta’ fondi li l-Gozo Association for the Deaf kisbet mingħand il-@mcvs_malta permezz tal-fondi tal-iSmall Initiative Schemes.
The Gozo Association for the Deaf participated on the second Public Consultation meeting held in Gozo in relation to the Public Consultation Document on the Reform of Voluntary and Not for Profit Sector. The G.A.D. was represented by it's President Ms. Carmen Grech.
