Mohamed is more than just a Go Station Ambassador, he's the heart and soul of Markham Go Station. Since he began in May 2023, Mohamed has brightened the daily commute for countless riders. He emigrated to Canada from Bangladesh over four decades ago, owned a coffee shop and then worked at a hotel brand for 14 years before joining Metrolinx. That deep-rooted passion for service shines through in everything he does today.Â
What Makes Mohamed Exceptional:
Heartfelt Recognition: He keeps a three-ring binder filled with over 60 handwritten letters and emails from grateful riders tells the story of his impact. It’s a testament to the countless commuters he’s touched and one gift from an elderly couple meant "more than a million dollars" to him.
Personal, Inclusive Touch: Mohamed doesn’t just provide information, he builds connections. He greets passengers by name, offers tips, and even wishes students luck on exams.
Reliability in Every Situation: From checking equipment each morning and making announcements to calming upset riders during delays, Mohamed’s readiness, patience, and proactive support are unmatched.
A Community Draw: Some riders even adjust their commutes just to catch Mohamed at the station, he's become irreplaceable to the community he serves
