Help Us Support Our Children!
In January of 2025, the students in the After-School Literacy & Enrichment Program participated in a Book Club sponsored by the Rotary Club of Southeast Volusia Golf.
The featured book was I am Farmer: Growing an Environmental Movement in Cameroon, written by Miranda & Baptiste Paul. This book tells the story of the life of Farmer Tantoh, an award-winning environmentalist in Cameroon who has brought clean water to over 250,000 people. After reading and discussing the book, the children planted seeds, did a water filtration project, and videoconferenced with Farmer Tantoh. They also had the opportunity to ask him questions about his clean water and garden projects.
In November, they participated in a presentation by the book’s co-author Baptiste Paul, who also grew up having to travel to get clean water.
The students created this book in honor of Farmer Tantoh and amazed us with their words, illustrations, and dedication.
We hope you enjoy this book!
