At the heart of Gorsefield is the simple belief that learning should be joyful. Through hands-on, outdoor experiences, children and young people are encouraged to explore, play, discover and delight in the natural world around them. Whether building fires, caring for animals, investigating habitats or working together on practical challenges, Gorsefield offers opportunities to experience learning as something engaging, meaningful and memorable. By supporting access to the Centre, the Charity helps ensure that enjoyment is not an added extra, but a central part of every child’s educational journey. 

Gorsefield provides a rare and precious sense of freedom. Set within a rural environment, the Centre allows children to step away from the pressures and constraints of everyday life and reconnect with open space, fresh air and physical movement. Here, children are free to explore safely, take managed risks, build independence and develop confidence in themselves and others. The Charity exists to help remove financial and practical barriers, so that more children can experience the freedom to learn beyond the classroom walls, regardless of background or circumstance. 

Through access to Gorsefield Rural and Outdoor Activity Centre, children are supported to thrive both academically and personally. Outdoor learning promotes resilience, teamwork, communication skills and emotional wellbeing, while also supporting physical health and mental wellbeing. By enabling schools and groups to access the Centre, the Charity helps create the conditions in which children can grow in confidence, develop lifelong skills and build positive foundations for the future. Thriving at Gorsefield means children leave feeling stronger, more capable and ready to take on new challenges.
