Maintain a calm and positive attitude, with the knowledge that you are implementing the right actions.
Practice physical social distancing
Avoid unnecessary contact with people who are sick; especially if they are coughing and sneezing.
Wear a mask when in the presence of people outside your household, especially if you’re unable to maintain physical distancing and are in busy and enclosed spaces.
Avoid unnecessary contact with elderly and vulnerable people to help reduce the risk of becoming a source of infection for them, for example call them instead of visiting.
Frequently clean your hands using correct handwashing technique with soap and water (for at least 20 seconds) and dry your hands thoroughly, preferably using a disposable paper towel. If soap and water are not readily available, clean them with an alcohol-based hand rub/gel with at least 60% alcohol. The use of gloves is not a substitute for correct hand hygiene/washing.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then dispose of that tissue in the bin. If you do not have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your elbow to avoid the spread of droplets. Wash your hands as soon as you can.
Avoid smoking near other people as the virus may be carried on smoke particles.
Ensure that your hands are clean before eating (or putting chewing gum in your mouth) and try to avoid eating near other people.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth – focusing on keeping your hands below shoulder level at all times can be an effective way to achieve this.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces such as door handles and mobile phones: a cleaning/disinfectant wipe is a convenient way to do this, if available.
