Adrián González Casanova is an Associate Professor in the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences and the Biodesign Center for Mechanisms of Evolution at Arizona State University. His research lies at the interface of probability theory, population genetics, and evolutionary biology. He develops mathematical models and stochastic processes to study evolution, biodiversity, dormancy, selection, adaptation, and the genealogy of populations. His work combines rigorous probability theory with biological applications, ranging from seed banks and microbial evolution to interacting particle systems and ecological dynamics. He has authored more than thirty research articles and received the Ito Prize and the Feldman Prize for his contributions to mathematical biology.

Johnny (Yifan) Yang is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Arizona State University. He received his PhD from Indiana University Bloomington in 2025 under the supervision of Louis Fan. His research lies at the intersection of probability theory and analysis, with interests including stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs), Dirichlet forms, interacting particle systems, and stochastic analysis. His recent work has focused on stochastic reaction networks, diffusion approximations, and mathematical models arising in biology. At ASU, he is developing new probabilistic approaches to evolutionary and biological systems while contributing to the activities of the Probability and Biomathematics group.
Imanol Nuñez is a PhD student working jointly at CIMAT and Arizona State University under the supervision of José Luis Pérez and Adrián González Casanova. His research interests lie in probability theory, population genetics, and stochastic processes. In particular, he studies branching processes, coalescent theory, and the interplay between genealogy and evolution. His recent work has focused on multitype Λ-coalescents, continuous-state branching processes, and the connections between population genetic models and stochastic analysis. Through a combination of probabilistic techniques and biological applications, his research aims to better understand the mechanisms that generate and maintain diversity in evolving populations.
José Chacón is a PhD student in Applied Mathematics in the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Arizona State University, under the supervision of Adrián González Casanova. His research interests include population genetics, coalescent theory, stochastic processes, and mathematical modeling. As part of his affiliation with the Biodesign Center for Mechanisms of Evolution at ASU, led by Michael Lynch, he collaborates with his advisor, Adrián González Casanova, on the development of mathematical models of symbiotic systems, with a particular focus on the effects of selection, competition, and transmission.
