This is my first Mariachi recording project. I hope that there will be more to come with a Volume II.
This album contains an album companion (track No.11) which is an overview and interview with the band.
Studio Notes
These recordings were made with Pro Tools 9.something. Mics used for Instruments and vocals were the Chameleon Labs TS-1 MKII and an Audix i5. The track count on these recordings are remarkably lean, and effects are minimal. Mainly just reverb, delay, and some stereo widening for getting some separation on specific frequencies on select tracks.
I did all the mastering in Audacity (Believe it or not). I was just goofing around with their stock compressors, EQ, and limiter. And I couldn't believe that it was actually defining the mix well. (Audacity is free software, in case you don't know) The only track that was not mastered in Audacity is Cancion Mixteca. I used a website called Cloudbounce.com for that one. It's an automated mastering tool, and in my experience, it works for some songs but not all.

Personal Note: One of the greatest motivations for starting a Mariachi band was because I was feeling homesick. I especially missed seeing Mariachis. They say "Be the change" so I did.
These are some early sketches of the album cover.
