I recorded this album in 2003 on a PC with 512k of RAM, and during the process of recording I upgraded it to 1MB or RAM. I used a DIGI001/ProTools bundle, and recorded all the vocals and instruments with SM57's. It took some extreme EQ'ing to get the vocals to sound like they do. I played and mixed everything on this album.
Needless to say, I spent a lot of time alone while producing this from start to finish. I never mastered this recording. At the time, I didn't even know that that existed.
The music in it is a collection of songs that I'd written from as early as the 90's. Those two early songs are "Edgar" and "Clouds" The rest of the music I wrote and worked on between 2001 and 2003.
The album was recorded in my apartment in Jacksonville (Springfield) FL. It was the second apartment that I'd ever lived in alone, but it was the only apartment that I actually loved living in out of the two. Springfield is a historic neighborhood in downtown Jacksonville, and at the time it was like a mini Oakland/Berkeley CA. There were many artists living in the neighborhood and developers hadn't yet fully eyed the place.
I made the album in a compilation style, because as a listener I've always loved those "best of" type albums more than albums where all the music sounds like it was cooked in the same kitchen. And I was playing lots of classical guitar at the time, producing New Soul and Rap music, and writing my own songs.
Album Art: The album cover artwork is a painting by a Colombian painter I met in St. Augustine FL named Jairo Ortiz Acosta. He and I became friends, and when attending one of his art openings I said to him "This painting looks like the music I'm recording." He was kind enough to allow me to use it with proper attribution.
