The 4-H beef project is part of the animal science education program. The program will help you learn to select, manage, produce, market and show cattle.

• Learn basic principles of animal science by owning, caring for, and keeping records on one or more head of livestock.
• Demonstrate knowledge of sound breeding, feeding, and management practice.
• Learn value of scientific research in its influence on animals and the meat industry.

I am planning on meeting once every month for our beef project in some way, shape, or form for this 2017/2018 project year. Please don’t let this limit your learning! You can call/text/email anytime and I (both Meredith and I) are ready and willing to help you succeed with your beef project.

Beef project meetings:

• October 28, 3-5pm, Gold Country Fairgrounds, upper parking lot -- We are having a TRAILERING 101 meeting! I have a group of young ladies (and man) that are either driving or will be in the very near future, and I’d love to start them off confidently operating their own equipment. (Moms and dads welcome to attend to learn or offer insight!)
• November TBA: Looking forward to having a meeting in November where we discuss the basics for raising your show cattle…feeding/washing/halter breaking.
