What is the Gold Award?

The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award a Girl Scout can earn. It is equivalent to the Eagle Scout Award in Boy Scouts. Each year since 1916, Girl Scouts the Gold Award has been presented to 9-12 graders who identify major problems in their community and lead Take Action Projects to solve them.

GOLD AWARD FACTS

• Less than 6% of Girl Scouts receive their Gold Award annually. Each Gold Award Girl Scout spends 1 – 2 years on her project. Approximately one million Girl Scouts have earned the Gold Award since 1916.
• The Gold Award's origin lies in the Golden Eaglet, the highest award in Girl Scouting from 1916 to 1939.
• From 1940 to 1963, the Curved Bar Award was the highest honor a Girl Scout could receive.
• From 1963 to 1980, this was called First Class.

Did you know?

A Girl Scout who earns a Gold Award:

• Enters the U.S. Armed Forces one rank higher (similar to Eagle Scouts)
• Expands her resume and distinguishes herself among other college applicants
• May apply for scholarships that universities and colleges offer to those who have earned their Gold Award

My Mission

By leading Wellness Workshops at Magnificat High School, I will educate my peers about the positive and negative effects of social media and target stress caused from social media through mindfulness, fitness, prayer, and meditation.

What can you do?

Although these Wellness Workshops are only for Magnificat students, I encourage you to implement these simple ways to de-stress with the people at your place of work, school, volunteer organization, sports team, or other entity. I designed these Workshops to be quick, simple, and easy to execute almost anywhere.
