Today we will be reviewing an article by Sarah Zhang “A Virus with a Deadly Name”. We will be assessing this article for Rhetorical Analysis. In this article we learn that there can be quite a bit. In this article Zhang explains why care and sensitivity need to be used when choosing the name for a virus or illness. We will see what happens when the kneejerk reaction from Egypt in response to the Swine flu as well as how Saudi Arabia felt about being associated with MERS. Not only will we look at what was said, but we will also look at how is was said. We will attempt to evaluate the author’s tone, intent, and her target audience. We can take a look to see how she supports her opinions in this article as well as how bias the article appears. An evaluation of the author’s use of language and examples will be included in this analysis of this article. At the conclusion of this assessment I will share my personal evaluation and opinions of the article and the author’s presentation. Will I agree with the author or find fault in their logic?
