Duty, Honor, Loyalty, Respect, Integrity, Selfless Service and Personal Courage
Hello, my name is Douglas Goforth, I was born January of 1973 in Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. At 21 months of age I was adopted and raised by my adopted parents, the Goforths. I graduated High School in Portland, Tennessee in 1991 and joined the active duty Army as a Combat Medic in 1992. I served in the active duty status until 1997 and then joined the Georgia Army National Guard in 1998. In 2016 I retired from the National Guard as an E-6 Staff Sergeant after 22 years. I have spent the last 15 or so years working as a security guard for different jobs. I spent one tour of duty in Iraq in 2005-2006. I have been to Japan (3 years), Korea (1 year), Iraq (1 year), Canada (visit), Scotland (visit), Kuwait (visit) and Jordan (visit). January of 2020, I started my most ambitious task to date, going back to school. Outside of the military I have not stepped foot in a classroom since May of 1991. As a part of this adventure, one of my first classes was English Composition. This portfolio contains some of the works I completed for this class.
