What does personal success mean to you?

Success means different things to different people. For some, it is financial, for others it is freedom, and for some it is being able to lead a certain lifestyle, while it is a combination of things to others. Therefore, there are many ways to achieve success, because it depends on what success means to each individual. With that in mind, there are some general key principles that the most successful people adhere to.

1. Take risks: Have you ever took any big risk in your life? And how often do you take risks to achieve the things you want in life? No one likes to lose whatever they already have, so they expend a lot of energy trying to mitigate loss, often in the way of doing nothing. But taking little risks means achieving little rewards. Without risk, there is no any big achievement .
2. Capitalize on unexpected opportunities: Unexpected opportunities present themselves from time-to-time, how often do you overthink things, then the opportunities disappear. Do not say, “No” too quickly when opportunities come your way, take a little bit of time to think things through. The experience you gain, or the advantage you experience, acting on the opportunity, may lead you in interesting directions that take you to exactly where you need to go.
3. Build positive relationships: The ability to build positive relationships and partnership is a key principle of personal success. The relationships and partnerships you build become increasingly more valuable over time. Successful people know this, and they also know how to leverage these relationships.
4. Discipline yourself: You have to consistently show up and do the hard work required to achieve personal success. You increase your chances of achieving personal success by acknowledging the barriers that you will inevitably face, and finding ways to eliminate or work around them.
5. Learn to focus: To achieve personal success you have to learn to focus on one thing at a time. If you try to do too many things at once, you do none of them well. Research shows that multitasking does not work. Businessman and master networker, George Fraser, says that you can only walk down one road at a time, so walk down that road - sage advice.
6. Celebrate success: Success builds on success, so celebrate your successes, even the small wins. And celebrate the successes of your peers. Others will take notice, and it will mean a lot to them. You are also building goodwill and a network of support.
7. Place things into perspective: Do not magnify your successes or failure, learn how to place things in perspective. A level head will take you a great distance, and prevent you from stumbling unnecessarily along the way.
