GOAL Bowling "Last Chance" Junior Gold Qualifying Tournament Handbook
As we put together our Junior Gold Qualifying Tournament rules, we had four things in mind:
1) Qualify as many girl bowlers for the Junior Gold Championships as possible. This is non-negotiable and is central to our GOAL. We will do this by using the lowest ratio (one fully-paid qualifying spot for every four bowlers entered in a division) allowed and supplementing that with a partially-paid qualification spot for the Junior Gold Championships in every age division with a number of entries greater than four but not divisible by four.
2) Recognize the added financial cost of a bowler accepting a partially-paid Junior Gold qualification spot by also awarding her a small SMART scholarship at all but our Last Chance Qualifier.
3) Reward the top one or two (depending on division size) non-qualifying bowler(s) with the highest scratch scores in each age division with a "runner-up" SMART scholarship ranging from a minimum amount greater than the portion of her entry fee put into the scholarship prize pool to an amount greater than the entirety of her entry fee (depending on division size). At our last chance qualifier, this will look a little different as the top score in each age division will be awarded a scholarship regardless of their qualification status.
4) Encourage girls to continue improving on challenging oil patterns by rewarding one or more handicap SMART scholarship awards to the bowler(s) with the highest total score plus handicap in the tournament field.
Things look a little different for our "Last Chance" qualifier as we further prioritize encouraging previously qualified bowlers to enter the tournament in order to fill out the tournament field.
All GOAL members ($20 annual membership) will also accumulate points at all of our Junior Gold qualifiers in an effort to win an additiobnal scholarship as the season leader in points in their age division!
