For European MOVE WEEK2024 in Bulgaria the project coordinator “Youth and Civil Initiatives in the Rose Valley” NGO organised two sport events promoting green practices, recycling and keeping sports fields clean of rubbish. Over 200 people took part in the two events.
On 31 May 2024 we organized a sport event for 150 children from all the six kindergartens of Karlovo with the support of Riotary Club–Karlovo. Our team and youth volunteers prepared thematic green games fostering recycling and keeping sports fields and playgrounds clean of rubbish. As the event was around International Children’s Day Rotary Club had prepared presents for all children which we put in textile bags with inscription “Save and Love your Planet” which the children could colour and use for multi-purposes thus lowering the use of plastic bags.
On 2nd June 2024 we organized the sport event “Together for Green Sport” in Karlovo Youth Centre’s yard together with sport club “K-1”Karlovo. Over 50 children and young people took part in the thematic green games, receiving green medals from recycled plastic as well as thematic presents – green multiuse water bottles, coffee cups for the parents who attended so we can encourage the reduction of use of plastic bottles and cups. We gave one of the project trash bins to the sport club representatives, so they can use it in their sport club collecting the plastic bottles trainees bring and give them for recycling.
After the sport event we supported the campaign “Books for rubbish” giving over 25 kilograms of collected plastic and receiving new books for the Youth Centre. It is a great campaign which we will continue supporting and encouraging more people to recycle.
