Course contents:
Classification of propulsion systems and their operation principles; Basic one-dimensional isentropic flows; Overall performance characteristics of air-breathing engines: turbojets, turbofans, ramjets; Aerothermodynamics of inlets, combustors, exhaust nozzles, compressors, and turbines; Principles of Rocket Propulsion: Thrust equation, Specific impulse; Chemical rocket propellant performance; Solid, liquid and hybrid propellant rockets; Advanced propulsion concepts: Electrical propulsion.
