The M12 Digital Innovation and Co-Creation Workshop: (10–12 June 2025, Bangkok) brought together stakeholders from across the Greater Mekong Subregion and beyond — including government officials, agribusinesses, e-commerce platforms, development partners, and digital pioneers — to co-create the future of agriculture in our region.
Over three days, we explored practical ways to:
Digitize farm-to-border traceability for crops and livestock
Scale smart farming and circular economy models
Enable interoperable certification systems and e-commerce integration
Improve farmer bankability through agri-fintech
Strengthen South–South cooperation and investment readiness
Key highlights:
Launch of the Durian Digital Collaboration Framework, featuring innovations in QR/RFID traceability, smart farming (NSTDA, Durio, FECC MARA), durian maturity scanning (Durio, MTEC), and biochar valorization (Arukah).
Deep dive into cross-border certification, SPS digital readiness, and alignment with the GMS Digitalization Action Plan (2025–2027).
Donor engagement with ADB, FAO, GIZ, ILRI and others to support roadmaps developed by participants for scaling inclusive and sustainable digital innovations.
🤝 This workshop demonstrated that digital agriculture is not just about technology — it’s about collaboration, coherence, and co-creation.
💡 Next Steps: Action plans and pilot proposals from the M12 Workshop will feed into the GMS Regional Investment Framework (2026–2028) and the GMS Digitalization Action Plan. Continued collaboration and knowledge exchange will be carried forward, notably at the GMS Working Group on Agriculture (WGA) Annual Meeting in September 2025, in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR, where M12 insights, priority areas, and project roadmaps will serve as foundational inputs for regional planning and coordination.
