Northeast Georgia Locally Grown
Farmers Markets
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Northeast Georgia Locally Grown farmers markets connect you with local food from dozens of small farms within 80 miles committed to chemical-free growing practices. We help farmers save time and transportation costs so they can focus more on farming while providing a comprehensive weekly list of available locally grown and crafted products with prices, quantities, and farm contact information. This program operates all year long!
GROWERS AND ARTISANS
Northeast Georgia Locally Grown connects you with Certified Organic and/or Certified Naturally Grown farms in the area. Not only are listings from LOCAL FARMS, they are from farms taking the extra step to protect our water, air, and soils. Not all growers are required to have certification but all growers are committed to not using any synthetic chemicals on your food or the surrounding land.
VOLUNTEERING AND GIVING
Northeast Georgia Locally Grown heavily relies on volunteers and is a project of the Georgia Mountains Farmers Network, a grassroots nonprofit bringing together farmers and customers within a 13-county region since 2010. Our mission is building community around local food and our vision is a thriving local food scene that supports sustainable farms and food access in Northeast Georgia. Support us today!
HOW IT WORKS
Approved Farmers use the market page to list what they predict will be ready for harvest that week.
The online market opens for orders on Fridays at 9 p.m. and stays open through the following Monday at 9 p.m.
Farmers harvest and pack your order on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Volunteers organize your order in a basket with your name and it is ready for pickup at your selected pickup location from 5 – 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evenings.
$20 annual membership after 3 trial orders. Payment is accepted at pickup after you have items in your hands.
We have a sponsorship fund for those going through financial hardship. No questions asked; Just let us know you would like the Membership fee waived due to financial hardship.
Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us.
Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word.
Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!
