The goal of the 4-Day Global Health Focused Ultrasound Course in Malawi is to enhance the diagnostic and interventional ultrasound skills of both local and international medical professionals.
By covering basic principles and progressing to more advanced protocols like FASH, RUSH, and PUSH, the course aims to equip participants with the practical skills needed to address clinical dilemmas, especially in low-resource settings.
The course also fosters collaboration between international and local doctors, promoting future partnerships and the development of local ultrasound training programs. Additionally, participants will have access to comprehensive training materials and e-learning resources for ongoing professional development.
Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is the future of bedside medicine. It is an extension of the physical exam and allows patients and their healthcare providers to see in real time what is happening in the body. It gives immediate answers to pressing diagnostic questions.
General Course Information
Course language: English
Participants: 16 medical professionals (≥50% local / ≤50% international)
Course fees: 1500,- euros for international medical professionals; fully funded for selected local medical professionals.
Included in the course fee: accommodation (5 nights), including three meals a day.
Not included in the course fee: travel expenses, visas, travel insurance, vaccinations and malaria prophylaxis and other travel arrangements. We kindly ask you to organize these independently, but we are happy to provide recommendations and assistance.
Cancellation policy: in case of cancellation 4-8 weeks before the start of the course, we retain 50% of the course fees; in case of cancellation 4 weeks or less before the start of the course, we retain 90% of the course fees. This is necessary to cover cancellation costs.

Both international and local healthcare providers are encouraged to attend, with a special focus on those working in low-resource settings.
It is highly recommended to have some basic ultrasound experience before attending this course.
