SUGARY DRINKS

Hello, we are a group of seven students of Rafael Casanova High School in Barcelona:

Anna, Emmanuela, Efraín, Ingrid, Sehar, Nicole & Dani.

We did a Global Scholars Community Action Project about Sugary drinks and their risks. In this web you can check how to find out the amount of sugar that one drink has, which sugary drinks are not good for our health and a few questions that you can answer.

In this photo, everybody is working on the Global Scholars platform or on the Prezi presentation.

OUR DIARY:

Day: 18/04/2018

We've had a brainstorming session with the ideas that we need to do our project.

We created a Google drive document to share with our team partners to work from home, we chose the nutrition topic to do our presentation and we decided how we wanted to do it in the class.

Day: 2/05/2018

That day we sent the e-mail to the school, we did the project plan and we did the Prezi presentation.

Day: 7/05/2018

We sent an e-mail to Gaudí's primary school and we also started preparing the worksheets about sugary drinks.

Day: 9/05/2018

That day we gave feedback to our Global Scholars peers and we finished the worksheet.

Day:14/05/2018

We continued with the Prezi presentation and gave feedback to the e-mail from the school in which they asked us about what they needed to bring. We also created this site.

Day:4/06/2018

That day we went to the school and we did our presentations to the students, they learned a lot about sugary drinks, nutrition and food waste, and we had a lot of fun doing our Community Action Project with them because they were so friendly.

Our e-mail to Antoni Gaudí primary school

Dear teachers and students,

We are a group of seven students at Rafael Casanova High School.

This year we have worked on a Global Scholars program called “Feeding Our Cities”.

We have learned a lot about food and nutrition and now we want to do a Community Action Project about sugary drinks so that primary school kids learn about the dangers of drinking too many sugary drinks.

We want to know if we can come to your class to teach you about how much sugar you drink.

We will calculate the amount of sugar in each drink with an activity and kids can learn to read labels.

We did this activity ourselves and it really changed our mind.

We are very excited with this project because it is very important for us.

If you accept this proposal, what day could we go?

We are available to come to your school:

  • Monday 28th of May from 9.45 to 10.45
  • Tuesday 29th of May from 10.45 to 11.45
  • Monday 4th of June from 9.45 to 10.45
  • Tuesday 5th of June from 10.45 to 11.45

Please let us know as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Anna, Efraín, Emmanuela, Sehar, Ingrid, Nicole and Dani.

Our e-mail thanking the 5th grade students and teachers who welcomed us

at Antoni Gaudí primary school

Dear students and teachers,

Thank you so much for your welcome last Monday. We are very happy because we think students liked the activity and students really behaved very well and we were welcomed very warmly.

We hope you have learned and now you think twice before drinking sugary drinks.

You can see our Community Action Project in our sites here.

We liked the school because it's all decorated and we loved the sofas. It looks very new. We loved the cultural column about Frida Kahlo, too. We like that kids learn about culture.

Thanks so much!

Best wishes,

Emma, Ingrid, Anna, Dani, Efraín, Sehar and Nicole.
