Our Insight into the US Election Campaign from Germany and the USA

Hello, I am Aref, a youth reporter and part of the youth editorial team at Salon 5. In our latest podcast episode, we shed light on the 2024 US presidential elections from two unique perspectives: from a German who recently lived in the USA for nine months, and from my interview partner, an American who recently lived in Germany for ten months.

Current developments: Joe Biden is not running for president again. Instead, Kamala Harris is being considered as the Democratic candidate. On the other side, Donald Trump is the official candidate for the Republicans after several challengers dropped out.

But what impact will this change have on the election campaign? And what results can we expect? We compare the political culture and election processes in the USA and Germany to provide a deeper understanding of the transatlantic differences.
