Book yourself a Introductory Flight at one of 80 gliding clubs around the UK.
Ask about the availability and process of learning to fly at your chosen gliding club.
You're ready for take off now! Take a look at the Training Syllabus to see what you have to do to complete your first solo!
As of the 30th September 2025, gliding training will be operated under Sailplane Flight Crew Licensing Rules (SFCL) and associated Declared Training Organisation Rules (DTO) will apply. All training towards SFCL privileges and ratings must take place within a Declared Training Organisation (DTO). All gliding training in the UK will continue under BGA requirements until 30th September 2025.
It is mandatory to hold a Part-SFCL Sailplane Pilots Licence to fly Part-21 gliders from 30th September 2025, unless you're a student pilot.
